One magnificent country
New Zealand, an island country in the southwestern Pacific Ocean, is adored by travelers for its vast number of natural features and breathtaking sights. Here you’ll find verdant valleys, dazzling fjords, sandy beaches, snowcapped peaks, cascading waterfalls and more. The landscape will inspire you every single day of the 2024 OneAmerica® Chairman’s Trip on March 16–26, 2024.
Whether you choose to explore by car, grab a bicycle for a daylong ride, wander along a beach, or choose something more adventurous such as kayaking, hiking or sailing, you’ll be immersed in the natural landscape. March is the month where this country begins to ease into autumn, when fall colors begin their spread throughout the countryside.
Your time will be split between the North Island, where you’ll stay three nights in New Zealand’s largest city, Auckland, and the South Island, spending five nights in Queenstown, one of the most beautiful towns in the world.
AUCKLAND
Located on New Zealand’s North Island, the Auckland experience includes dozens of islands, countless beaches and a volcanic field that produces a diverse array of landscapes. And like any big city, the cuisine, art and culture are plentiful. Visitors quickly find that one of the best parts about visiting New Zealand is New Zealanders themselves. They are friendly and welcoming people. You will come to know and be embraced by the Máori, New Zealand’s indigenous habitants. Their customs and history are infused into New Zealand’s fabric and one of the best places to experience and learn about the culture is in Rotorua, a morning drive away from Auckland.
In both destinations, your lodging will be provided by Sofitel Hotels, known for luxurious five-star accommodations with a touch of French decadence. Your three nights in Sofitel Auckland will provide dining and pampering second to none.
QUEENSTOWN
Smaller than Auckland, Queenstown is located on New Zealand’s South Island against the Southern Alps, surrounded by tons of trails and parks. Its narrow streets and pedestrian lanes are filled with shops and restaurants. (If you’re adventurous, it also has one of the best spots in the country to bungee jump!) You’ll be here at the perfect time of year to enjoy a jaunt over to the bucolic town of Arrowtown, once flooded with gold miners, where in autumn the trees create a golden spectacle of their own. This area also has a plethora of wineries providing opportunities for tours and tastings.
Your lodging in Queenstown will be provided by Sofitel Hotels, known for luxurious 5-star accommodations with a touch of French decadence.
